I spent the first five years of my legal career working with families AFTER they lost a cherished loved one. Close to 99% percent of the time, it was always the same – the person who had died had done no planning or had worked with an attorney who didn’t know how to properly plan. The surviving family was always left to pick up the pieces, confused, frustrated, and often, fighting with family in court. Shockingly, this even happened in my own family when my dad passed in 2016.
When you know better, you do better.
In 2020, I founded Herbowy Law, PLLC, became The Legacy Designer®, and a PFL® because I knew I could serve my community better by educating my clients about their choices and how these choices could profoundly impact the well-being of the ones they loved the most. Being a PFL® Firm allows me to work with my clients so that they design their Legal Life Planning in a way that is unique to them . . . the way you live, the way you love, the way you work, the Legacy you want to build, and the Legacy you want to leave behind. It’s about DISCOVERING all that you own, all that you are, and all that you want to be. It’s about DESIGNING a plan where you feel supported in your decisions from education through implementation. Ultimately, it’s about EMPOWERMENT – educating you through a unique process that allows you to be a better you, a better partner, a better parent, and a better professional.
I began my legal career 25 years ago, and upon graduating I served as one of the 12 premier attorneys at AYCO in the Estate Financial Services Division, where I provided SurvivorSupport®, to hundreds of families across the U.S., guiding them through estate and financial issues after the loss of a loved one. As my career progressed at Ayco, and to other companies like The Northern Trust Co., and E&Y, I continued to work with a broader range of clients, including high-net-worth executives, business owners, and creative entrepreneurs. These experiences truly allowed me to see how proper planning can provide peace of mind even in the face of tragedy.
I am a member of the NYS Bar Association, a WealthCounsel Member, an ElderCounsel Member, and a graduate of Elderlaw College®.
I thoroughly enjoy educating my community and working with families and business owners. I have chosen to concentrate on the Trusts and Estates & Business areas of law because I am passionate about helping families create happy and secure futures.
Most importantly, I am married to my wonderful husband, Bill, and I am the proud mother of Luc, Avril, and Asher. When I am not practicing law, you may find me with my husband, at various sporting events supporting my children as they grow.
“We are so pleased to have found Nara who is a pleasure and absolute gem to work with. Our experience with estate planning has been the most wonderful one in comparison to prior less than desirable ones. Every aspect of what we wanted was met with professionalism, thoughtfulness and research into what we needed to accommodate our wishes. We begin with a comprehensive inventory of everything you own, and everyone you love, and consider it all in a working meeting, called a Family Wealth Planning Session, to guide you to clarify your financial life and legacy goals before we draft a single document.
We work with you throughout every life stage to map out the most likely scenarios for you and the people you love, planning for each as your life, the law, and your assets change over time.
Our Life & Legacy Planning process ensures everything that matters most -- from your financial assets to your values, insights, stories and experience -- are captured and documented during your life and cared for over the generations to come.
Transparency in our process, and our fees … all of which are flat fees, agreed to in advance, based on your choices and with no surprises, ensuring we stay on the same side of the table - supporting you to make a lifetime of great decisions - every step of the way.
Our systems help you get clear and organized, overcoming the exact issues that keep most estate plans from actually working when they are needed most. We help you leave your family with a gift of love, and not a mess.
One-and-done estate plans focused only on money are a recipe for a big mess. We help you throughout every stage of life and be there for the people you love, when you can’t be.
