About Johanna Pickel
Hello, my name is Johanna Pickel I became a Personal Family Lawyer, because I have dedicated my career to serving others, specifically families, people with disabilities, and my country.
Prior to starting my law firm in Estate Planning, I served with the United States Air Force as an assistant Judge Advocate General (JAG) for almost seven years. I was a veteran of the Iraq conflict, and my last military assignment was as an instructor for the Air Force Academy.
After separating from the Air Force, I decided to focus on estate planning, special needs planning, and elder law. I received my LL.M. (Masters in Law) in Estate Planning and Elder Law from the Western New England University.
Before I went to law school, I focused on serving people with disabilities, with a Masters of Art in Special Education. I taught high school special education for two years. After teaching, I began law school at the University of New Mexico.
As an "old" mom (I had children in my 40s) of my amazing children Seren and David and a winding career path, I know how life can change throughout a lifetime, and I love assisting families create then develop their estate plan as their life evolves.
I am passionate about assisting families create catered estate plans that meet their specific unique needs, helping them preserve wealth, meet any needs for a child or family member with special needs, and avoiding family conflicts.
