Gina DePrima

Hi. I’m Gina, and my passion as a lawyer is to help families find peace and strength and build a strong foundation for a more positive joyous future. My goal over the last 18+ years of practice has been to partner with my clients at their most vulnerable and challenging times, for example through relationship breakups, death, and incapacity, and to be there as a true personal advisor when they need one the most, and that’s why I became a Personal Family Lawyer.

There’s a complex maze of legal and financial decision that families of all kinds- Mother’s, Father’s, single parents, married couples, and divorcee’s- to name a few, face here in New York and I’m here to help navigate the way to their best future so that the people they love the most, usually their children, are protected and kept out of court.

I focus on Kids Protection Planning, Wills, and Trusts and making sure parents are prepared not just for the inevitable (death), but the unexpected possibility of incapacity as well. In addition, as a trained mediator and collaborative lawyer, I take a holistic approach to resolving family disputes, breakups, and parenting conflicts.

I graduated from SUNY at Buffalo in 2003 at the top of my class, and shortly thereafter DePrima Law was born to fill a need for more peaceful-oriented, solution-focused lawyering for families. I’m a court appointed attorney for children, I’ve helped countless indigenous families through assigned counsel, a skilled mediator and collaborator, and a member of Erie County Bar Association, NY Bar Association, and past president of the Women Lawyers of Western New York. Additionally, I am a part-time Assistant District Attorney in Allegany County where I protect and promote the public’s interest and justice.

I love educating my community on the topics of guardianship and kids protection planning, and why you don’t need to be wealthy to have a Will or properly plan for your life and legacy. I also love promoting healthy break ups and co-parenting and am the creator of the podcast Divorce with Heart and Conscious Co-parenting.

Most importantly, I am a mom of two amazing active teenagers, Ava Jo and Derek, and two furbabies, Duke and Cash. When I’m not in Erie County, or at a ball field or ice rink, you’ll find me at the Lake or in the woods enjoying the nature and beauty of all of Western New York and Allegany County, or cheering on my beloved Bills.
